Hotel Taburiente was founded in 1966 with 45 rooms and ranked as a two-star hotel-residence. In 1976 the hotel increased to 90 rooms and soon it became a hotel once the hotel-residence category disappeared.
In 1989 the hotel increased the number of rooms once again, reaching 116 rooms and it underwent a general remodelling of installations, design and services. During these years, the three-star category was requested, which was given to the hotel. The last expansion and general remodelling ended in 2007. Since that time, the hotel has 173 rooms.
Santa Cruz is located north east of Tenerife and it is the capital of the most occidental islands of the Canaries, that is to say, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.
The port city borders the Atlantic Ocean and it is only 7 km away from one of the most well-known beaches in the island, Las Teresitas, being also this point one of the possible ways to easily access the Rural Park of Anaga, one of the most ancient areas of Tenerife, which includes an endemic Laurisilva forest that can be visited thanks to a wide network of paths.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the economical and business centre of the island and therefore, it receives mainly business travellers, but the city also offers a wide of range of cultural, gastronomical and historical events which are highly interesting for independent travellers looking for blending with the city inhabitants, the local customs and traditions and also, the day-to-day of this contemporary city.
